In the name of transparency, is there actually a way for the public to request an accounting as to whether these hundreds of thousands of shares traded back and forth in a matter of days are legitimate or just counterfeited naked shorts? It would be nice to know if the share price is based on ethical market forces or manipulation. Is there any mechanism to ensure this? Or do small investors always have to take the word of market makers, brokerages and hedge funds. Surely there must be some mechanism in place to assure the shares outstanding actually matches the shares being traded and manipulators are not artificially increasing the supply in order to naked short the stock in order to pump up their quarterly returns.

Clinuvel is a predominantly a tightly held small investor owned company where most people hold their shares for dear life. Yet there always seems to always be a nice supply for shorters. Who is lending these shares? Or are they being created out of thin air?

1. If they are real shares, Clinuvel can buy them in the buyback and presumably remove them from circulation. Perhaps it would take more than one round of buybacks.

2. If they are fake naked shorts shares the buyback wont help against them. But something needs to be done about that.

Small businesses are easily targeted by hedge funds. Manipulative shorts make money off of the good will of investors and take money away from companies trying to improve the world.
