Great insight, especially on the region. It's a shame the industry will be damaged for short term gain. Coles started it but Woolworth's could have stopped it in it's tracks and come out the winner, simply state, "We will not be participating because there may be unforeseeable negative consequences to the industry."
That would have been a great reverse psychological play, and would have sucked in the consumer to the humanitarian aspect of 'having a heart' whilst being part of a duopoly.
But I suppose they couldn't resist the school yard fight with Coles :((
