I live a few blocks from FWL's office and dropped in to see if anybody could have a chat with me about the prospects of the company.
Brett Manning the MD was good enough to spend about 45 minutes with me outlining the companies plans and the process and benefits of developing a pig iron resource.
He explained that there would be several significant milestones announced over the next six months which will have a positive impact on the share price.
Interestingly he explained the benefits of using pig iron in electric arc furnaces over the larger blast furnaces.
He believed several companies inlcuding FMG will probably get in to pig iron because they will also have the magnetic iron ores suitable for this process.
Ferrowest is basically the only company in Australia at this time looking at this kind of development even though 35% of the worlds steel is produced from electric arc furnaces which require pig iron for the steel blend. Most of the pig iron comes from Brazil where Australia has significant freight advantages.

A lot was discussed but the general outlook is positive.
Brett will be going to Sydney in November for further presentations to brokers which will lift the profile of the company.
