RE this rediculous shorting....
You can be long your super fund and still have another account hedging it short which isn't a smsf. Just use CFD's to short it ... anyone can do it.
I have no problem with legitimate shorting. I have no problem with major banks going broke either ... if they get reckless.
I think any unsettled trade should have a 24 hr notice and then a complete freeze institution wide on any trades if not rectified. That would stop the naked shorters :)
