Yes it is just appalling and no cause however righteous you may think it is justifies that sort of treatment to any living creature let alone humans.

We have to remember that Guantanimo is still open and it appears it will stay open. This is nothing like what these muslims did in Kenya but torture is torture. When I was in the military we underwent interrogation training which involved soft forms of torture but the longer it went on the more severe the pain became. That alone affected peoples psychological attitude for some time.
The lesson I learnt is DONT GET CAPTURED.
Most people that undergo some genuine torture never really recover.
