    Judging by his press conference it is pretty clear Wilkie played Abbott. My question is why did Abbott fall into this trap?

    Anyway, imo the independents will go with Labor. Why:

    Oakeshott wants everyone to hold hands and work together even though their ideology may be poles apart - his radical mindset pushes him to the left and into the Labor/Green coalition.

    Windsor couldn't wait to leak to a jubilant ABC that the coalition budget had a massive black hole.

    Katter has already stated they will offer support as a bloc. He also admires Kevin Rudd.

    My feeling is they will do a deal with Gillard on the introduction of a mining tax without even considering how it effects Labor's budget.

    I hope I am wrong but amazingly none of them have mentioned the will of their respective electorates as a issue. Also, they haven't had a single positive thing to say about the Coalition. Is this all just byplay?

    I look forward to alternative opinions.
