click on your name, then it states this user limits who can view their profile. All your posts on other stocks are also thus blocked. Its a useful tool to decide how the user/poster views the world and investment. Makes it all transparent.
Without that I have no idea whether I should respect the posters views or ignore them.
Yes NHC are a low cost producer. More importantly management have been great investors - strangely done very well in coal. Maybe a bit of luck when they bought 40% from Wesfarmers. probably a 14 month payback on profits they currently earn at that price.
My reading of this is that coal is becoming more complex - especially thermal in that it will be the first to decline in use. However it is a balancing act as it seems delaying closures will help in getting the transition right. Replacements take time. I think it is all fine if they dont buy any more coal resources. This one ends in 2040 and that suits my investment thesis. I dont want them doing what other coal mines do - start investing in things they are not currently skilled at. I wasnt really happy with their oil investment nor their coal to gas/ Liquids experiment. I have invested on the basis that this is a cash cow until the party ends. I personally think it is a bit cheap but also carries more risk. A faster move to alternatives would reduce coal usage - that could leave you with stranded assets or low prices and profits. I have not bought any more since its $2.00 days but have not sold any as I would have to pay CGT and would rather earn out via fully franked dividends. Without the CGT I would probably take my money off the table.
There you have my entire investment thesis on this - if it went to $6.50 plus I may sell out. when it was shooting up above where it is now I was too greedy to sell. Need more discipline in my process.
