Its not a completely new process. It's a modification to an existing brine process. I never mentioned it had anything to do with NMTs next spodumene to carbonate/hydroxide plant. That is a completely different process suited to brines only. Someone could easily have this new technology running in their existing brine plant within the next 3 years. Has been proven in small scale plant.
The reason NMT are not using ELI in their next plant is that it will be faster setting up a plant with current extraction methods used to be running by 2020. To set up a plant with ELI would take more years when lithium is booming now. They have stated this in their announcements.
