Hi moondog .. In Australia, in 2010, 60% of households received more in direct social benefits than they paid in taxes and 26.4% of individual taxpayers paid no net income tax. Twenty years ago this proportion was only 14.3%.
The Centre for Independent Studies has found that almost one in six working age Australians relies on welfare for all or part of their income.
Robert Carling states that there is a larg constituency whose financial interests are best served by preservation or enhancement of social benefits.
The top 40% of households are bearing the burden, paying 72% of the taxes and receiving less than 22% of the benefits.
Sooo ... multiculturalism is a nothing more than a Govt subsidised ponzi scheme ... most arrivals will fall into the 60% category and only now is there any sensible debate over the now chronic shortage of services/infrastructure.
Alan Kohler reported on ABC recently on this topic and that 400,000 immigrants arrived in Australia in 2012 .. all demanding and ushered to the front of the queue for housing, medical, education, pensions etc ..
Interestingly, most immigrants are moving from third world to first world lifestyles and we here seem to be headed in the opposite direction ..
