Chicago is understandably a bit coy with numbers but would be about 50+ installed now. Talk is that the near term potential in Chicago is 200, that is only with the red light camera function live. Turn on the speed camera function at a lot of those eventually and you can guess the potential. (a combination RL/speed installation is still only counted as 1 installation by Redflex)
Plus recently Illinois state passed photo radar speed camera legislation, tender already out for 50 mobile speed camera vans for work zones throughout Illinois.
All this sudden fuss about Ohio, it is old news first having been proposed in January and will possibly drag on for years, or more likely get knocked out at one of the 5 more review stages it has to go through.
Texas has now approved photo enforcement plus Arizona has now approved photo radar fixed speed cameras, Texas alone has the potential for RTS to be much bigger than Ohio ever could be.
