There's an interesting article on the * platform regarding the future of silica sand.

Small cap mining investor Tolga Kumova considers silica sands a "sleeper industry".

He opines, "The necessary component of concrete is abundant in parts of Western Australia, but supply has tightened in other parts of the world to the point where a ‘sand mining mafia’ has reportedly emerged in India.

You’ve got this little industry emerging in WA that no one’s really paying attention to, but I think over the next couple of years we’re going to see a lot of business, particularly since you don’t really have to do much with it,” Kumova said.

“It’s DSO, and silica prices have almost doubled in the last 12 months. I think this is a market where people will wake up one day and go ‘how did I miss this?’, or ‘lucky I got on early’.

Although ASQ might be a little behind the eight ball compared to a few others in terms of exploration, then potential development and production, it nevertheless has the acreage to spike interest. We are also waiting on the outcome of the export of a small silica sand sample batch to China.

Combined with the forthcoming exploration and joint venture partnership with DevEx Resources, and its bauxite joint venture, ASQ is a potential diversified miner with upside in its share price.
