While I accept the various arguments that have been put forward why NZOG would possibly lean towards a 5 cents per share dividend, I would like to think that it couls see itself as being a little more generous.
NZOG has about 388 million shares.
At a NZ$ 5 cent dividend it is going to cost about NZ$19,300,000.
At a NZ$ 7.5 cent divident it is going to cost NZ$28,980,000
So if its actual profit was between NZ$50 m to $70 m then 7.5 cents is not too big a slice of the profit (let alone the cash on hand.)
Mind you Forsyth Barr has indicated that it is picking a Reported profit of NZ$51 million but a "normalised" profit of NZ$28 million.
Hmmmmmm. So perhaps more reason to stick with 5 cents per share.
However i will go with "generous" and hold out for 7.5 cents at this stage (though perhaps not confidently)
