Pretty extreme to declare bankruptcy. Some career paths are forbidden to ex bankrupts, there are a number of restrictions for three years at the very least. Then you have to start from scratch to get anywhere again. The best avenue to take is obviously wait for inflation to take off again, negotiate with your bank and within three years you will be OK again.
