Hi all I have a query regarding qualifying for dividend payments. I bought some shares in Cardno (CDD) on the Ex-dividend date of 14 December 2021, thus I held them at close of business on the Ex-date. The record date was 15 December 2021 & payment date was 22 December 2021. I did not receive any dividend payment so I queried Computershare (CDD's share registry) about this. They told me that "the security holding was first registered on 16 December 2021" and that "therefore the holding did not qualify to receive the dividend payment". My queries to any knowledgeable share traders out there are: 1. Is this correct? 2. Can a buyer influence the registration date to ensure payment of a dividend? 3. Who ends up with the dividend payment that (I feel) is qualified for these shares? Cheers and thanks
