I find a Dividend is one way for a Board to shore up positive sentiment. It is a real signal, not just lip service, to the market that they are confident on the future cash flows of the company. The recent production numbers announcement gained little traction in the market. I believe the market is wanting cash flow stocks, growing cash flow stocks. The Qtly may achieve this in the short term but an indication by the board of dividends how ever small is a far greater mechanism to send a positive signal in my opinion.
