    Hi There,

I'm new to the share market and have been reading up about trends around the ex-dividend and record date and how patterns emerge as people attempt dividend stripping. I understand that the SP will fall on the ex-dividend date, and usually rise leading up to it. My question is when is the price usually effected by those invsetors getting in just before the dividend. Is it the day before? a few days before? Because i also know it takes 2/3 days or whatever for the order to be completed. On Monday we are likely to feel some pain because of the fall in oil price last night, but i'm wondering if that might be offset to some degree by investors getting in just before the ex-div date. I'm unsure about that notion and some clarification would be cool!

    Thanks Guys!
