I keep seeing posts here talking about specific brokers or the fact the broker sends instructions. Broker does not matter much here, if you just sign with the broker (whether its commsec, nabtrade, selfwealth, etc) you are exposed. That also applies to brokers that send your information.

Inorder to avoid this from happening you MUST create a username and password in the registry as soon as you buy shares (if you do not already have one). Infact just sign up with computershare, link, automic, advanced share registry and boardroom and you are covered.

I happen to work in cyber and fraud and talked today to the head of security at Link - this is a well known flaw applying to all registries, and they cannot do anything about it. They monitor for anomalies, but cant catch it all.
