If owners letting out don't get rent in they are left with mortgage payments, rates, land tax, maintenance etc, so will more sell to prevent the drain, which may be very difficult to handle especially for more recent and therefore lower equity investors. A sale means a buyer, and presumably few would have full cash, so the closure of one mortgage means the origination of another, mostly?
