Its a nice sentiment, however the reason why Australia is about to experience a sharp rise in gas prices is that they will now be competing with international markets & export gas. I agree in the past they seem to have been a well run company however one thing that was obvious, was there was going to be a glut of gas & having large debt may be an issue.
If they suspended dividends then the SP would obviously suffer short term, but that doesn't mean its not the prudent thing to do. Better than another alternative outcome, that oil & gas prices tank further & they are forced to do a large CR off a lower SP
