outside of the comment about the company;s role - which is utter nonsense, comnpany;s are expected to make future assumptions all the time - the rest is sound thinking
certainly trading assets for dividends on its own would make no sense.
i suspect they would say they are actually reducing their net liabilities with an asset sale - and its that, not dividends - which would be the reason for a sale.
but lurking in the backdrop - the issue of shareholder backlash against divvy suspension is definitely political.
thats the problem with companies run by people who dont own the majority shares. professional managers and boards tend to think short term.
