As at 31st December WAM had profit reserves of 11.2c per share. After they pay the interim dividend of 7.75c per share (I presume they will still maintain the previous dividend) they will only have 3.45c per share plus whatever they make between January & June this year.
Whatever they pay for the final dividend, there will be little or no retained earnings for following dividends.
Geoff Wilson is reluctant to pay dividends that are not fully franked.
It will take either a bull share market or extremely good fortune in managing their portfolio to be able to pay any meaningful dividend going forward.
