If you hold his passport, she can apply for a new one - claiming it's lost. In my case, the lady in question had a family court order against her prohibiting her to apply for a passport and to take him out of the country. But she applied anyway, with my signature falsified (by her boyfriend) and obtained a passport.

A good point. She doesn't have a boyfriend (that I know of) and as much as I don't want to say that we are in that situation I think it would be prudent to pretend I am......... FML. I'll have to make some phone calls tomorrow. Thanks Spruik.
