    Interesting stat I remember reading in the AFR a couple of years ago (off the back of research from perhaps ABS or possibly a research centre like NATSEM) was that married women's wealth is 5 x their single counterparts, whereas for men it was only 2 x. First deduction upon reading this is that women have more to gain than men from being married...but more meaningful really is that wealth for both married men and women is signficantly more than just the combination of their wealth pre-marriage. i.e. wealth accelerates simply by being married!

    Funnly enough there was no mention of how that wealth is de-constructed through divorce!:)
