    I think most of what you are saying in this statement is fundamentally wrong. Yes you are correct that Berkshire Hathaway does not pay a dividend but that is because they prefer to reinvest their profits (coming from dividends in other companies amongst other things) in growth. Dividends are not uncommon in the US and the likes of Apple, Microsoft and Coca Cola do pay dividends. Companies generally don't pay dividends in their startup or growth phases where revenue is best reinvested into growing the business, but once it reaches a point it has an excess cash position and no need for a large amount of cash on hand it will generally return this to investors as a dividend. Also Warren Buffet's favourite time to hold a fundamentally sound and profitable stock is forever, so generally speaking he relies on dividends in order to fund his other investments. For example one of his favourite stocks is Coca Cola which he has held since 1988. Your strategy might work for you but using one of the most successful investors of all time to prove your point when your point doesn't align with his style of investing is extremely misleading IMO
