Wouldn't using milk powder would be more expensive than just using milk? Milk powder has a funny taste too .

ok ok ok - generic skim milk powder from coles is about $6.60 for 1kg (makes 10 litres - so 66c per litre). the instructions are 1 cup of powder to one litre of water. watso tosses in one cup of milk powder into the milk/water mix that is in the kettle - so that brings the cost of the yoghurt back to about 90c/kg (assuming rtc milk at 50c/litre) - so the cost is pretty similar (after allowing for heating costs - which works out to be 1c/minute) to using 1 litre of UHT milk (at $1 per litre) .

watso usually zaps the yoghurt with an egg and fruit (mostly banana ) in the little rocket blender.

bananas. which are rtc (ie cheap) are perfect for the blender - and even if there was a funny taste (which watso has not noticed) , then that would be blinded by the fruit and egg
