The Stockton, Calif., City Council is expected to vote Tuesday on whether to launch a process that could eventually lead to a Chapter 9 bankruptcy filing, the Stockton Record reported Thursday.
In one of the moves required before a bankruptcy filing can take place under California law, the city would be required to talk to major creditors during a 60-day mediation period, the newspaper reported.
