The desire to be of service to a community, any community, isn’t often for personal glory and desire is probably the wrong word for it.
Maybe obligation or a sense of duty is a more apt description as I believe most who do the extra yards do so because they just have to.
Maybe one needs to have a bit of age to see these things, maybe there is a sweet spot and we then slip back into not understanding or caring?
Hopefully it’s cyclic, like the tides and we see a bit less ebb and a little more flow coming up?
Without a community approach, all chats sites wither on the vine, I believe?
Maybe it’s a difficult thing to understand for some who are numbers based and a difficult balance to maintain for anyone steering these kinda ships?
PS The Pinners and the non stock thread followers give me hope that the basic ethos of the HC of the naughties will still carry on into the foreseeable future.
