Charting and being on top of emerging news and economics reports does take a good chunk of random out of pinning imo.
I update a DOW chart every day … when bars sit within a dominant uptrend or downtrend channel or sit within an obvious bull or bear formation, charting DOES more often or not preempt future movements, more so on a weekly basis than a daily basis. Certainly there are periods of directionless flux where charting is of little short term use. Imo, using charting as a pinning assist definitely improves my podium success rate.
