    A crossing usually represents either;

    1 buyer and a number of sellers. Or
    1 seller and a number of buyers.

    So in this case, my guess would be that someone is looking to acquire a large number of MLX shares ie. 10m.

    If they went into the market and bought that many shares they would push the price up 20-30%. So they call their broker and say I want to buy 10m shares up to 45c and then the broker will call around and try and find large shareholders who are happy to sell their holdings at that price. Either the brokers own clients or substantial shareholders. Once they have enough sellers to match the buyers order, the broker puts through the crossing.

    In terms of what it means for the share price, its hard to say these days. The ASX changed the rules so you cant see which broker completed the trade, so you can no longer call that broker to find out what is going on.

    In a stock like MLX, given its current operating environment, I would dare say the market would see this as a positive and I would expect the share price to have a strong close today.
