    Whilst historically it has been mined for the glass-ceramic industry, petalite could also be processed to produce chemical grade lithium carbonate/hydroxide products for the rapidly-growing battery market. Petalite is amenable to similar processing techniques to spodumene2, to produce a chemical grade lithium carbonate/hydroxide product.
