it is exactly the same process to produce chemical grade lithium carbonate from spodumene or petalite. you bake the spodumene or petalite ore to 1100c then chemically treat. there is absolutely no difference between the 2 types of ore once they have both been baked. the positive about DKO's petalite is the low iron content and the very high purity of the crystals once the impurities are removed. if anyone says that petalite is different to spodumene after baking is 100% wrong so all dko holders please eliminate this as a reason for very very low sp.
