Global investors see Australia as a place that 'digs things up' and let others add value.
This is our place in the global financial system, this has been the mantra since the 1980's since the state exchanges merged in to the ASX.
Australia is not known for 'smarts'. Our politicians don't understand technology because their states dig things up for tax revenue (income). Who was it that said "work smarter, not harder"? Just observe where our most wealthy entrepreneurs invest.
One reason I generally stick with the materials sector. For me ADO is a aberration in my portfolio.
