you might hear in mind then that many young people are now struggling with a different type of peer pressure - and that is to become transgender. I listened to a conversation between two young men/boys who were doing some modelling for me. Both enjoyed experimenting with make up. One struggled with their gender identity the other didn’t. But it would be very easy to make an assumption that particular types of gender associated behaviour meant something it did not

the teenage years are filled with angst and sexual identity or roles or is part in a whole variety of ways

I think we need to do a better job of holding space rather than enable a headlong rush into medical procedures that cannot easily be undone

as to whether empathy is a female trait - it is not. Women are socialised early on to care and to engage in emotional support for others and boys less so.

but it may well be that biologically empathy has been less useful for men. Much harder to kill someone or something if you are well endowed with empathy.

what can be taught however is to respond to others emotions in a particular way. Whether that is true empathy - don’t know

but if indeed you have the skills to show empathy why then do you respond to some posters as you do? It’s not a dig btw but I am curious
