firstly humans are self serving..all of us! and to go into politics I believe is more about increasing ones 'own' status or'power' in society..You can really care for your fellow man by going out and finding someone who needs help and DO IT NOW!
in fact I think if the masses started to look after each other we would have no use for gov. and thus rid out the fat,lazy complaisant ones.
