Well, first of all, there is production car racing. The production cars have to have the same specs as the on-road cars vis speed, power, etc. Would you watch production car racing on telly if they were all speed-limited to 110 km/h? I think not. Also,we COULD have cars speed-limited to 110 km/h, but you need a bit in reserve for emergencies in passing, say to 135. And if you go on hols to the NT where the speed limit is 130 kmh on certain highways, you would need at least 155 for safety. Wouldnt make any difference.People buy junk food for convenience because their lifestyle doesnt allow for the time taken in cooking fresh healthy food, regardless of cost. Mums call into KFC on their way home from picking up the kids from school to grab the evening meal, right?

The stringent laws exist, just arent enforced by the legal system. Look at the laws in place requiring mandatory gaol sentences, yet no one gets locked up for breach of same...
