Political parties I think would be bearable if there were certain changes done to the process. Firstly elections need to be financed by tax payers, ie $20 mil for each party to run it's campaign on and full audits along the way. Less amounts for independents and minor parties. Secondly lobbyists and ministers need to be kept at arms length and made accountable for decisions, and every decision and reasons for made transparent. There's obviously corruption and self serving grubs within our political system which needs addressing and those 2 changes should help. If we were to suddenly have a load of independents inside PH the problems above would still be there unless there was change. But I do see the benefits of independents who are immune to the Party line crap which destroys peoples ethics and principles.
