I've been meaning to make a thread like this of sorts for a while, but just haven't given myself the time to worry about posting a thread up on a "weird" experience I get on a very common occurrence.
I've been mowing lawns for 9 yrs now, and there is a property I do in Hamilton/Ascot QLD (North Brisbane). The property I do is a unit courtyard within a unit complex.
There is a wooden gate to which I access the grassed courtyard, which is in a shape of an E without the middle dash(dash is where the building is).
Now what I find very hard to comprehend is that every time I do this place, I try and leave the gate open to allow access to the place, so I don't need to put my hand over the gate unlatch the latch then push on the gate. When you are carrying whipper-snipper / blower / hedge trimmer / or pushing the mower it is just a pain in the butt.
The gate is my cause of weirdness, it is a perfectly level gate, by that I mean, it does not automatically close shut if you open it and leave it 90degrees of the fence unless on a windy day. I can chat with the owner of the unit while in front of the gate and it will stay open, but the moment I do work out in the back yard or the courtyard out of site of the gate, when I next return it is ALWAYS shut. This has been happening for the last 9yrs. Over time I've spoken to the owners about my "gate weirdness" and before I tell them they are none the ware, but after telling them they do become aware of it and also they are amazed by it.
It is weird that you can stand in the front courtyard part and chat for 10-20minutes and the gate is open the whole time, but the moment you go around the back to do something, even if it just for a few moments you come back to it being shut, yet no one is home or else the owner is out the back with me also.
I've never encountered "ghostly" thoughts, images, feeling that someone is around while I'm there but it certainly makes you wonder at times.
Was there someone who use to live there and died cause the gate was open and it is their "duty" to keep the gate shut? I have no idea but it is a strange one.
