Mr Gordon if you are such a fan of King James Bible why not use it routinely, why deny so much of the KJ text then clutch to a few alternatives. With respect of lament, commemorate would be the most likely substitute, this does not change the context.

Why deny this biblical account as well Mr Gordon, the passage is straight forward but has your tradition and adoption of dogma twisted you that scripture cannot stand straight, stand alone, in the context of the sentence, paragraph and chapter.

(I am sure Jephthah had tears in his eyes as he lit the sacrificial pyre he probably was sobbing uncontrollably as he praised Jehovah with the burning of his daughter. )
