The good old days
I had a debate with a friend recently where she was saying how the standard of life in Australia was so much better than it used to be.
My view was that apart from all the toys that we get to play with and medical advances the basic day to day standard is (from my experience) much lower
Maybe that reflects my upbringing in which we although not rich, dad was a tradesman, we never wanted for anything, maybe our aspirations were not high enough but we have had a good life and I see that quality of life slipping away and the younger ones coming up now are going to have a much harder lifestyle.
It is a sign of “older age” but also because when you are older you have seen the good times and the bad so can gauge better what is happening around you, called experience.
