Why? The reason there are so many LNG plants is Fed labour approved them all. Martin Ferguson a key proponent of their development.
Its the state governments that have brought in the moratoria on CSG - one liberal/national (NSW) the other Vic (Lab).
Of those moratoria, it is the one in NSW that is screwing the market the most as they have the largest CSG fields to develop. Vic is minor.
The reason for the high price ultimately rests on the NSW Lib/National decision. Market modelling in support of the LNG proposals assumed Narrabri would be on by now. As Narrabri is not, the LNG trains are taking more existing domestic gas, and hence the price is high.
So concerns about a labour gov when it comes to energy policy, appears to be misplaced.
