You're right, its very easy to get sucked in. I wont lie and say its hasnt happened to me.

I've been burnt a couple of times taking too big a gamble on a stock that I really should have looked furhter into. The reason I said TAS was because I followed the herd, THEN started the research. I was oblivious to the negatives even though some of the more experienced people on here had highlighted a few of the points that you mentioned in your post. I was lucky, I got out early when the technicals suggested, but once I was out, it was only then (when the emotional attachment was gone) that I realised that the directors had taken investors for a ride. I truly hope it turns out to be a fair dinkum share, though. I'm sitting on the sidelines for a while yet, however.

There are quite a few stocks that come to mind that fit into the categories you've listed. I've printed off your post and its now sitting next to my computer screen. The newbies should really go over it a couple of times - it could save them a few $$$'s going forward.
