The average person should never bid at an auction.
It is false economy if you don't hire your own agent to do it for you.
If the agent is permitted to give a vendor bid to start the bidding this fact should be on all the advertisements, that bidding will start at $???? so that all potential buyers are properly informed.
They have changed the auction process into a form of public negotiation, they are no longer auctions
