Commander, after checking results in Sunday paper it appears that one of them sold after auction at the vendors reserve so I guess someone really was prepared to pay the price being asked even though they had no competition.
This is the thing I can't understand...bidding against the Vendor Bid!!
It just seems so ridiculous(and even embarrassing) to see someone bid against an agent back and forth when there is no competition!!
I mean, after you have made the opening bid which is counterbid by the agent with no further genuine bids wouldn't you pull out right there? Why would you keep showing the vendor how much you are prepared to pay if you didn't need to?
    Why are people so stupid?
I know that people will say that that you get first right to negotiate etc but so what!...If there is no competition it is totally irrelevant!
With regards to reporting this dummy bidding stuff, how could anyone really prove anything?
Apologies for all the exclamation marks but this is more bewildering to me than the actual ridiculous prices being paid for these borderline knockovers.
Would love to hear from anyone who has done this very thing and why?
