These questions are ridiculous. Nobody knows how much all these things cost from day to day, or product to product. They're asked by journos looking for their gotcha moment, as if not knowing the cost of a particular item is going to be a surprise to anybody.
Every politician fails at this. The journos have the opportunity at most to ask a couple of questions of the politician at the presser, and instead of asking how they're going to solve the housing crisis, how they're going to deal with China or how they can justify spending $500b on submarines, save the planet, reduct our debt etc, they ask them if they know how much a kilo of potatoes costs.
Morons of the highest order. All, and I mean ALL, politicans should take the lead from that Green (Bandt or natale I can't remember), who told the journo to jam his question in his ass and to grow up.
And to think, these halfwit journos are all we've got to keep our pollies honest. Andrew Clenell goes okay, but he has pulled this garbage before, and 'embarrassed' every polly he's ever asked, of all stripes. He should wake up to himself and ask questions whose answers matter.
