How can we know what the people he was speaking to, thought?

Perhaps you thought he was “on the money” and I have no issues with that.

I doubt if anyone who he was standing in front of even listened past the first minute or cared.
Sure they all smile and perhaps give him a clap at the end but that’s what is expected, same for all the rest of the people who speak.
He or any of the other speaker’s that got a turn at the rostrum could delivered their speech in the voice of Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, PeeWee Herman or even ScoMo and the audience would have clapped at the end!

Won’t it take some time before we know if His speech has a positive or negative effect?
