To me, this is a good sign. Amaysim is trying to become more competitive with the international calling sector.
The full change for AYS users:
- 5GB of data is increasing to 7GB
- Unlimited standard international calls to the top ten countries (China, HK, India, Malaysia, NZ, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, UK and USA), in addition to 300 minutes to selected countries
- Plan expires every 28 days, previously it was 30 days
- Price remains the same at $44.90 per renewal
- Other inclusions remain the same
I agree with SingedFingers concerns over the extra billing from a customer point of view. However, the Vodaphone deal of $50 per month only includes 4GB of data, not 10GB , as he stated. The 10GB is a temporary promotion that expires in 1 month.
I believe the unlimited international calls to those 10 countries will be a drawcard for many users and makes AYS more economical than Vodafone, who already offer the free international calls to their 'top ten' countries.
Even if you don't call any of those 10 countries, do not be narrow-minded and assume that every AYS customer is exactly like you (personally, I don't call anyone overseas, but I still see the value in this deal). Ask the girls at your local Asian 'nail bar' or the Indians at your local cab rank: the majority are with the cheapest reseller who offers free international calls home. Just last weekend, my cabbie told me he was with Vodafone only because he always called his family back home in India and the calls were unlimited. I told him about AYS, but knew we didn't offer free international calls, only a capped amount. Now, he has a reason to switch.
In summary:
AYS per annum: 13 renewals x $44.90 = $583.70
Voda per annum: 12 renewals x $50 = $600
And you get an extra 3GB of data with AYS? Easy decision.
To me, this is a good sign. Amaysim is trying to become more...
