I figure if you are going to invest in copper stocks this one in Kazakhstan is as good as any. There are a number of undeveloped copper deposits with a lot of potential. The problem with copper is the politics of the country. Wherever there is copper there is political conflict. Big copper has more interest in keeping certain copper deposits closed than opening them up. GTE will be competing with some very big guys: Codelco, BHP, Minera Escondida, Phelps Dodge, Group Mexico, Freeport McMoran, Rio Tinto, etc. Just as with the old Panguna mine in Bougainville, opening a large deposit like Kazakhstan could lower copper prices. If the big guys feel threatened by the Spasskaya Copper Project we may see some kind of political conflict such as a Kazakh civil war.
