Have used Linux Mint exclusively for the last five years or more and with every upgrade/release it just gets better and latest Mint 9 (referred to as Isadora)is top class.
Almost everything needed is auto installed on line by a couple of clicks including all updates.
As noted by Tasboy it has the codecs which allow most media offerings to function.
I run all internet requirements (ie HC,Banks, finance pages,Topshare etc) without problems or any sign of viruses or any of the mandatory pop up garbage commonly encountered with Windows.
A recently purchased $600 computer is now in use with the O/S installed in a removable drawer which allows changing to another Distro at will.
Download and installation is VERY easy and when operational the boot up time is around 37 seconds.
    My conclusion : It's great!
