To Make sure you are registered on the 5/11 Ex Div date I believe you have to purchase your shares no later than Fri 30/10/09. I believe the Dividend announcement will be on Thursday 29th that will notify the amount of dividend. Selling tends to take place on Ex div date because as long as you are registered by ex div date, you are entitled to Divs. Hope this answers your queries.
