If they go ex divided date is 5/11, you need to purchase your shares by close of business on 4/11 to be entitled to the dividend. If you buy by close of business on 4/11, you will be on the register by 5pm on the Registration Date, which is 10/11. This is from the ASX website:

If you buy on 4/11, settlement will be T+3, which is after close of business on 9/11 (weekend in between). I'm not sure, but presumably registration takes place after settlement and that probably happens the following day 10/11. So that is why the extra day (T+4 effectively) is used for checking the registration records.
